VANDALIA — The Butler Lady Aviators completed their regular season on Saturday in a three-set loss to Miamisburg on Senior Day.
The 25-17, 25-18, 25-22 loss left the Aviators at 12-10 overall and 9-6 in Greater Western Ohio Conference play.
“Miamisburg is an all-around great team,” said coach Caitlin Shumaker. “With it being our senior day, the team wanted this win so badly, but despite our drive and effort, we fell short today.”
Prior to the match, Butler honored seniors Willow Knight, Victoria Theobald, Becca Helke, Sara Droesch, Mackenzie Duncan, and Grace Cope.
Cope led the Aviators with a kill percentage of .389 and with two blocks. Knight and Cope each had eight kills while Grace Swarts had 26 assists.
Karli Kercher notched two serving aces while Theobald and Knight had 15 digs each.
Butler will enter OHSAA tourney play on Wednesday when they host Stebbins at 6 p.m.
Shumaker was pleased with how the team rebounded from an 0-5 start and the resignation of their coach.
“All-in-all, I’m thrilled with how our regular season turned out,” she said. “These players have come so far, and we’re excited to begin the tournament against Stebbins Wednesday.”
