Lady Aviator hoops camp slated

VANDALIA — The Butler Lady Aviators have announced the details for their summer basketball camp.

The Lady Aviators will hold camp June 5-8 from 9-11:30 a.m. The camp is open for all students entering grades 3-8. The camp staff will be the Lady Aviator high school coaching staff, current varsity and junior varsity players, and past varsity players.

The cost is $50 (each additional sibling is $40) which includes four fun-filled days of skill instruction, practice, and games led by the staff, camp t-shirt, and various prizes. Campers will get to practice in the SAC (Student Activity Center) at Butler High School.

Payment and registration form is due by May 19. Checks should be made payable to the Butler Athletic Boosters and mailed to Molly Bardonaro, 611 Randler Ave, Vandalia, OH 45377.

Butler boys to host basketball camp

The Butler boys basketball team will host their camp June 12-15 from noon to 3 p.m. at the Butler SAC. The camp is open for all students entering grades 3-8. The fee is $60, but if paid before June 3, an early bird special of $50 applies. Family discounts are available.

The four days of camp at the S.A.C. will be run by Butler coaches and players from the boys basketball program. The primary focus will be on basketball FUNdamentals. Ball handling, dribbling, shooting, passing, and defense will be stressed. Each camper will receive a camp t-shirt and have the opportunity to compete and win prizes in various competitions that stress FUNdamentals.

Butler Football camp set

VANDALIA — The Butler football program will hold football camp under the lights at Butler Memorial Stadium on Friday, June 2 from 6:30-10 p.m. This camp is open to students in grades 1-8. Butler baseball camp

VANDALIA — This camp is designed to instruct youngsters in the fundamentals of baseball, hitting, fielding, pitching, base-running and game situations. The camp is conducted by the Butler High School baseball coaching staff and team, under the direction of Coach Trent Dues. The Butler program has become an area and state power during the last fourteen seasons. For grades 4th – 9th Grade Boys (grade is based on the ’17-’18 school year). The fee is $65 (make check payable to Vandalia ACME Baseball). Family Pricing: $32.50 for each child after the first child pays full price. This camp will be held at Butler High School Baseball Field. The camp will run Monday, June 5 through Thursday, June 8 from 10:00a-12:30p. Friday, June 9 is scheduled as a rain date only.

41Hope 5K registration open

VANDALIA — Regsistration is now open for the 41Hope 5K Memorial Run/Walk to be held Saturday, August 26 at 9 a.m. at Butler High School’s Memorial Stadium. This is the day following Butler football’s home opener versus Massillon Perry and the annual Play for a Cure game.

The 41 HOPE 5K raises money for the Blake LaForce #41 Memorial Fund, a VISIONS Endowment Fund, of the Vandalia and Dayton Foundations. The #41 Fund provides two annual college scholarships, one for a boy and one for a girl student athlete, as well for enhancing the student athlete’s experience, at Vandalia-Butler High School. The Butler Kickline captained this Memorial 5K, honoring Blake #41, to Compete, Persevere and Win.

Football officiating class scheduled

HUBER HEIGHTS — Are you interested in officiating football? The Ohio High School Athletic Association needs football officials. The cost of the class is $105 plus the cost of a uniform. After completing the course, officials will be a Class 2 official eligible to officiate youth, junior high, freshman, and junior varsity games.
