TROY – The Butler boys’ cross country team placed second at the Troy Lost Creek Reserve Invitational last week.

Butler’s Long Lin was the meet’s overall winner in a time of 10:26. He was followed by Kyle Wertz in sixth place (10:46), Gabe Warren in eighth place (10:49), Sean Luttrell (33rd place, 12:11), Matt Mescher (39th, 12:27), Noah Thompson (40th, 12:27), and Brice Hellman (51st, 12:56).

“Our top three boys ran really well today,” said Butler head coach Andy White. “They closed the gap to Long Lin. Long continues to compete really well. This was Long’s first cross country victory. Our fourth and fifth runners need to continue to improve and close the gap to our top three runners.”

The Lady Aviators placed fifth overall. Abbie Schoenherr placed 13th in a time of 13:38 and Olivia Schoneherr was just behind in 14th place with a time of 13:46. They were followed by Elizabeth Kilgore (31st, 15:08), Kate Crews (42nd, 16:37), and Michell Valdivia (43rd, 16:59.)

“The girls showed improvement from Saturday to today,” said White. “We are getting better but we have a long way to go. It was good to see Abbie compete as well as she did today.”
