TROTWOOD – Butler girls’ swimming placed all three of its relays in the top five at the GWOC Championships Thursday, Feb. 4 at Trotwood-Madison.
The girls’ 200 freestyle relay of Sydney Baker, Abbey Burton, Grace Cope and Reilly Harrington placed fourth in 1:45.46. The 200 medley relay team of Elaine Dean, Baker, Molly Hetzer and Burton also placed fourth in 1:58.77. In the 400 freestyle relay, it was Hetzer, Cope, Harrington and Elaine Dean making up the team that placed fifth with a time of 3:58.39.
Elaine Dean had a strong night individually also, placing fifth in the 100 freestyle in :55.89 and eighth in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:03.89. Baker also had two individual top 10 finishes with a 10th in the 50 freestyle in :26.53 and a 7th in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:12.79.
Other girls making it to finals were: Burton 50 freestyle 6th :26.15, Rachel Shively 100 freestyle 10th 1:00.49, Harrington 200 freestyle 13th 2:15.23, Erin Dean 200 freestyle 16th 2:24.22, Hetzer 100 backstroke 16th 1:08.90 and Cope 100 butterfly 16th 1:07.98 and 200 IM 14th 2:30.24.
The girls have sectionals Feb. 13, followed by districts at Miami University Feb. 20.
