Test drive a Ford to support Butler athletes

VANDALIA — The Butler Athletic Boosters invite you and your friends to support our student- athletes, cheerleaders and coaches and test drive a car with a booster member on October 3 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the Vandalia Recreation Center. Our goal is to secure 300 drivers which would guarantee a $6,000 contribution from Ford. Drivers must be 18 years old and there is a limit of one driver per address. The Drive One 4UR School event is sponsored by Beau Townsend Ford.

Vandalia Youth Basketball to hold tryouts

VANDALIA — Vandalia Youth Boys Basketball (VYB) is holding its 2015-2016 Season Tryouts the week of October 5.

Tryouts will be held at the Living Word Family Life Center at 250 N. Cassell Road in Vandalia.

VYB is a competitive basketball program based in Vandalia and Butler Township. We compete as a member of the Miami Valley Metro Association, playing teams from the GWOC conference and surrounding school systems. VYB offers teams for players in grades 3-6 and will be fielding teams at each grade level. Multiple teams at each grade level are possible, depending on the number of boys who try out. Talented second graders are encouraged to try out, as we may field a second grade team in the third grade lower division league.

All tryouts are at 6 p.m. Tryout dates are:

Grades 2-3 – Monday Oct. 5

Fourth grade – Tuesday Oct. 6

Fifth Grade – Wednesday Oct.7

Sixth Grade – Thursday Oct. 8

HHYBA sign-ups for basketball continues

HUBER HEIGHTS — The Huber Heights Youth Basketball Associaion (HHYBA) had registration on Sept. 17 and Sept. 22 at Valley Forge Elementary School, but for those who missed this sign-up, HHYBA is still accepting players and coaching applications for all divisions.

Contact Chris Crawford at 233-5941 or Cheryl Barnes at 237-7667 for any additional sign-ups. The registration fee will be $125 per person for all divisions. All divisions have a birthday cut-off of Aug. 31, 2015. All players will require a copy of their birth certificate to verify age.
