VANDALIA — Zach Crawford knows how to go out in style.
On Senior Night Tuesday at Cassel Hills Golf Course, Crawford tied his school record score with a 31 to lead the Aviators to a convincing 144-170 won over CJ.
Fellow senior Gannon Godsey shot a 35 followed by Austin Greaser and AJ Lawrence both shot 39. Daniel O’Leary shot 45 and Dalton Gaskins shot a 50.
The team placed third in the Hadley Fall Classic held at Weatherwax Golf Course in Middletown this past weekend. The Aviators had a score of 311, St. Xavier shot a 306, and LaSalle shot a 304.
Leading the way for the Aviators was Greaser with a 74 followed by Crawford (75), Lawrence (79), Godsey (83) and Jack Herbst (92).
On Thursday, the Aviators set two school records in a win over Piqua 135-180. Crawford carded a school-record 31 and the team score, 135, sets a school record for a nine-hole Greater Western Ohio Conference (GWOC) match.
Godsey was close behind Crawford with a 33, A.J. Lawrence shot a 35, and Greaser shot a 36.
“My players are peaking at the right time just before post GWOC tourney, districts, sectionals and hopefully state,” said Coach Scott Hadder.
Butler will face Chaminade Julienne twice this week. On Tuesday, Butler will host CJ at Cassel Hills and then travel to Miami Valley Golf Club to face the Eagles again on Thursday. Both matches are set to begin at 4 p.m.
