Live duck races to benefit Butler baseball

VANDALIA — The Butler baseball program and the Brent Collinsworth Memorial Fund will feature live duck races on Saturday, November 17 at the Irish Club, 6555 Dog Leg Road. Butler baseball alumni will be introduced throughout the evening. Tickets are $15 pre-sale and $20 at the door and can be purchased from a Butler baseball player. There will be live auction items, raffle baskets, a 50/50 drawing, food, fun, friends, and a cash bar. Doors open at 6 p.m. and racing begins at 6:30 p.m.

Wayne staff vs. Junior Cabinet volleball game

HUBER HEIGHTS — The Wayne High School Junior Cabinet will be having their Annual Special Wish Staff vs Students Volleyball Game paid assembly on Tuesday, November 20, 2018. Jr Cabinet and A Special Wish will be working together on this event with the proceeds going to our sponsored child. To be on the student team, you must be willing to collect cash donations. The top collectors will earn their spot on the team to play against staff. Want to collect donations but not play, that’s great too! Stop by see Mrs. Carter in the Clinic or Mrs. Quisenberry/ Room H227 for details and to sign up. Together, our Wayne family can make a very Special Wish come true.

Vandalia Recreation Center Activtities

35th Annual Turkey Shoot

VANDALIA — Fun for all ages, two member teams, one adult and one child from the same family, shoot free throws to earn points toward a gift certificate for their Thanksgiving feast. Children up to 8 years old shoot at a lowered basket. The Turkey shoot is open to all ages and competition is by age group. The Turkey Shoot is Saturday, Nov. 17 at 10 a.m. at the Vandalia Recreation Center gymnasium. Fees are $5 for residents/VRC Members and $7 for non-resident teams. K – First Grade Instructional Basketball

VANDALIA — Participants will practice skills and learn the rules of the game for the first 30 minutes and participate in a non-competitive recreational game for the last 30 minutes. The is $20 Resident/Member and $25 for Non-Resident. Games are held starting Saturday, January 5 through February 2 from 8:30-9:30am.

Recreational Boys Basketball INTRAMURAL Leagues – Grades 7-12

VANDALIA — Teams will be divided in December so you will be ready to play in January. This league is coached by a team captain in division and will only involve game play and NO practices. The fee is $35 for Resident/Member and $45 for Non-Resident. Games will be held on Sundays.

Lifeguard Training

VANDALIA — This American Red Cross course will teach participants all the required skills to become a lifeguard. You must pass the Lifeguard Pre-Screen Swim Evaluation that is offered on Monday, November 29 at 7:30pm. This is for ages 15 and older and the cost is $200 Resident / VRC Member; $210 Non-Resident. Registration ends on November 24. Class will meet Monday, Wednesday, and Friday starting on November 26 and ending on December 7 from 4:00-9:00p.
