Celebrate birds at Happy Bird Day, make your own beeswax candles at Aullwood Farm, start your holiday shopping early at the Museum Holiday Shop Around, and volunteer for Project FeederWatch. After Thanksgiving, bring the entire family to Aullwood’s Holiday Art Fair. Come and make memories at Aullwood.

*Aullwood Candle Dipping
Saturdays and Sundays, November 21, 22, 28, 29 starting at 2:30 p.m. The aroma of beeswax permeating the Farm Discovery Center strikes visitors as soon as they arrive. Traditional candle dipping using beeswax creates special memories at Aullwood. As a chill comes on with shorter days, visitors anticipate this wonderful hands-on activity. The glow of a dipped candle is the perfect way to “warm up” a cold winter night.
Individuals, families, scout troops, and youth groups will enjoy making red and/or blue colored candles. The cost is a general admission fee of $5/adults and $3/child (members of Friends of Aullwood and National Audubon Society are admitted free) plus $1 for each candle made. *Share the Harvest Dinner
GreenFire Bistro’s 8th Annual Share the Harvest Dinner will be on Thursday, November 19 at 6:30 p.m. Share the Harvest Dinner buffet will feature Aullwood Audubon Farm’s healthy meats – free-range turkey, lamb, chicken and all natural hormone-free smoked ham. Art Chin, owner and chef, will donate 20 percent of all sales, including alcohol, to support Aullwood’s education programs for children. A raffle with wonderful wines and other items will also benefit Aullwood.
Share the Harvest Dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m. and feature a variety of starters – chicken and wild rice soup, lamb gyro dumplings with tzatziki sauce, and chicken lettuce wraps. The salad will be fall Panzanella salad with maple mustard vinaigrette. The entrees will include traditional roast turkey with gravy, honey butter grilled chicken with parsley sauce, and bourbon glazed ham. The featured sides will include asiago and sage scalloped potatoes, braised root vegetables and cabbage, and fall fruit dinner rolls. The dinner will be topped off with apple pie and ice cream.
The cost is $35/person and does not include drinks or tip. Seating is limited to 50 people and reservations are required. GreenFire Bistro is located at 965 W. Main Street in Tipp City. Thursday and Friday, November 19 & 20, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Come count birds, drink coffee, eat donuts, share stories, and count more birds. *Gingerbread House Making Workshop
Saturday, November 21 from 10 a.m. – noon. Discover a quick and easy way to build a miniature holiday house; a spicy twist on the traditional treat. Learn how to build a house out of graham crackers. Find out the tricks of cutting the crackers and constructing the house. Then, decorate a pre-made house. Use brightly colored candy for a traditional house or go rustic with nuts, seeds and berries. Take home templates, recipes and decorating tools as well as the miniature house you decorate. Take the class by yourself or as a family to make a village. Instructor Karrie Rossmiller has a home baking business that offers cookies, cupcakes and cakes. She learned the art of pastry and bread making in Sweden and she was the head baker at Concordia College’s German and Spanish Language Villages. Price is $15 FOA member, $25 non-members. For a family of up to four people – $40 FOA Member, $50 non-member. Family Workshop pricing consists of 2 adults maximum and children under the age of 18. Level is beginning/ intermediate. Mad Buck Moon – Full Moon Walk
Wednesday, November 25 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The male or buck white-tailed deer are in an excited search for does during this time of year. The urge to mate causes the bucks to take on a crazy or “mad” behavior. Join an Aullwood naturalist for a walk in the light of the Mad Buck Moon. (Center)

Aullwood’s 12th annual Holiday Art Fair will be on Saturday, November 28 from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the Marie S. Aull Education Center at 1000 Aullwood Road in Dayton. Over 30 artists and designers will offer beautiful artwork, hand crafted jewelry, homemade edibles and exquisite gifts at Aullwood’s Holiday Art Fair. Admission is free all day.
