Vandalia Police Reports

VANDALIA – The following police reports were received from the Vandalia Division of Police. All subjects are innocent until found guilty in court of law.

August 27

A resident on Settlers Trail reported money missing after a company came to clean up damage from a water line break. The investigation continues.

A 17-year old juvenile female was charged with domestic violence after officers responded to a dispute over cinnamon roll icing. The case was referred to Montgomery County Juvenile Court.

A juvenile male was entered into LEADS as an unruly runaway after his mother wanted him to come home after living with friends for a few months. The investigation continues.

An officer spoke with a resident on S. Brown School Road about rounds landing on their property from the range at Miami Valley Shooting Grounds. The officer spoke to the person in charge at the range and noted there was no range officer on the rifle range while he was on scene.

August 28

Plates were confiscated from a vehicle parked at the Knights Inn per order from the Ohio BMV. The driver was notified.

A male was served a trespass notice for from the Vandalia Recreation Center after sending offensive text messages to a Vandalia employee regarding a personal matter. No further action was required.

A car was entered into LEADS after a friend allowed someone to borrow it and with was not returned. The investigation continues.

Joshua C. Wells, 43, was arrested for receiving stolen property after attempting to pawn a stolen grinder. He was issued a summons to appear in court.

August 29

Kroger reported that a known person attempted to buy over $400 in groceries at Kroger with a check that would not clear. The subject left with $200 in groceries. She was located, paid for the groceries, and trespassed from the store.

August 30

Joseph G. B. Combs, 25, was arrested on a felony warrant for aggravated drug possession out of Champaign County. He was taken to the county jail.

Officers were dispatched to the New Life Worship Center on Benchwood on the report of a theft by a known person. The stolen property was retrieved and the matter referred to Criminal Investigation Section for further investigation.

Officers responded to an address on Crest Hill Drive on the report of a possible overdose. Naloxone was administered and the subject transported for medical attention. The investigation continues.

Staff of a local church contacted police after receiving calls that a juvenile was soliciting funds in the name of the church. The church reported that it does not raise funds in this manner. The investigation continues.

Daniel K. Bent, 33, was arrested on a warrant out of Miami County for a traffic offense after a traffic stop near Randler Ave. He was taken to the county jail.

August 31

A business owner reported that an unauthorized person paid a DPL bill with his checking account. The investigation continues.

September 1

A juvenile female reported that she was touched inappropriately by an unknown person while walking down the bleachers at a football game. The investigation continues.

Plates were confiscated from a vehicle parked at the Knights Inn per order from the Ohio BMV. The driver was notified.

September 2

Dontrell L. Montague, 38, was arrested on a capias warrant out of Dayton after officers responded to the Knights Inn on a disorderly complaint. He was also cited for possession of marijuana. He was transported to the county jail.

A complainant reported that a phone she was returning to ATT via the U.S. Postal Service was not received by ATT or shown as picked up. The investigation continues.
