VANDALIA — The Vandalia-Butler Board of Education is inviting the public to a reception honoring retiring Superintendent Bradley Neavin.
The reception will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 in the Butler High School lecture hall. The reception will immediately precede the board’s regular business meeting.
Neavin’s retirement caps off a 32-year career in education as a teacher, principal, and superintendent. He has served as the Vandalia-Butler Superintendent since 2013.
Neavin came to the district in difficult times but has widely been credited with helping the district to emerge stronger, and leaner, than before.
“He (Neavin) came in at a time when morale was at a all time low,” said Vandalia-Butler Board of Education President Bob Cupp when Neavin announced his retirement. “He single handily came in and turned things around and brought spirit back into the district. A good leader always wants to leave things better than when he took over. He has done that.”
Neavin will be succeeded by Rob O’Leary.
