VANDALIA – Samantha Wickham, who is the Farm Manager at the Aullwood Audubon Center, spoke at the March 9 dinner meeting of the Vandalia Lions Club. Her subject was Sustainable Farming and Poultry Husbandry.

This included discussions of being environmental stewards of the land: Rotational Grazing, Composting, Cover-cropping with clover as an example; animal health care; selective poultry feeding and the effect on egg quality; and meat production of range vs. sheltered chickens. A Farm Manager’s typical day was also discussed.
