Friday night dinner offered at Marian Manor
BUTLER TWP. — Marian Council Knights of Columbus 3754 offers Friday Night Dinner of Fellowship on March 3 from 5:30 to 7 p.m., with Rosary beginning at 5 p.m. The menu will be: Fried Fish and French Fries, along with sides including Salad, Cole Slaw & Applesauce. Cost is $7.50/adult, $4.50/12 and under, or $22/family. Desserts are 50 cents while they last. This dinner will continue every Friday during Lent. Marian Manor is located at 6050 Dog Leg Rd., Dayton. Receive a free 50/50 ticket when you donate two or more canned goods to share with those less fortunate. All are welcome.
Smith Planetarium to explore going to Mars
VANDALIA — Free shows are offered on the second Saturday of the month during the school year at the Smith Middle School Planetarium. Shows begin at 7 p.m. and are free and open to the community. Seating is on a first come-first served basis. The March show will be held on March 11 and will explore various topics of interest from the audience.
BPEA hosting mini-golf event
VANDALIA — The Vandalia Butler Performing Arts Association is hosting the first community-wide mini-golf event on Saturday, April 8 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. at Butler High School. The community is invited to play a round of mini-golf in the halls and rooms of Butler. There will be concessions, a silent auction, and raffle baskets available in the cafeteria. Tickets are $5 presale and $7 at the door.
Vandalia Recreation Center
Would your son or daughter know what to do if the child they were babysitting for started to choke on something? Would they know what to do if they were taking care of several children and someone came to the door? Does your child baby sit younger siblings? Why not enroll your child in a Better Baby Sitters course. Your child will learn the responsibilities of having a job, the Rights of a Baby Sitter, CPR for a Child and Infant, Basic First Aid, Growth and Development and appropriate toys and activities for kids. They also learn diaper changing, infant care and how to feed a toddler. The most important component of the Better Baby Sitters course is that it is fun!
This program is for children in grades 5-8th. The cost is $75 Resident/VRC member and $80 Non-Resident. This class will run on Saturday March 4 and March 11 from 9:00a-1:30p at the Vandalia Senior Center.
Under the Rainbow
All the beautiful colors of the rainbow will be part of this fun and interactive class. Each session will introduce a new color. Please wear RED for the first class. This program is for children age 2-4 years old. The cost is $24 Resident/VRC member and $28 for Non-Resident for the session. Or you can drop-in for $7 per class. The program will run on Tuesdays beginning March 2 through March 23 10:00-11:00am.
Zoom Around the Room
Enjoy a morning of play with your child. A variety of play equipment will be set up in the gymnasium for children and their guardian to run, climb, jump and recreate. An adult must accompany each child or family of children. No instruction, just open play! Registration not required. Ages 1-5 years old. The cost is $4 per child per class. Kiser High School Almuni Meetings

Vandalia Lions Club meets twice monthly
VANDALIA — The Vandalia Lions Club holds dinner meetings on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month at the Cassel Hills Golf Clubhouse at 6:30 p.m. The club does not hold dinner meetings in July or August. Programs include speakers covering topical subjects. The program topic at the Feb.23 meeting will be Astronomy and the Smith Middle School Planetarium with Scott Oldfield.
