FAIRBORN – Former Vandalia City Manager Rob Anderson will become the City Manager of Fairborn on Monday, March 6. Anderson, who is a Vandalia resident, is currently Fairborn’s Economic Development Director.

“We are very excited about this opportunity,” said Fairborn Mayor Dan Kirkpatrick, “We were very fortunate we had a number of outstanding candidates and we selected the best person we believe to move the city forward. As a city in motion, Fairborn has many exciting programs and projects in our future.”

Anderson served as Vandalia’s Assistant City Manager and then City Manager from 2006 until 2013.

Anderson’s career in government began as a city planner for Kettering, a position he held for nearly 10 years before moving to Vandalia to be the assistant city manager, and then city manager. He branched out to start his own consulting firm, leaving Vandalia, to pursue his passion for development. In just a short time later, the City of Clayton began searching for a development director and found Anderson.

In 2015, a colleague of Anderson’s approached him about the economic development director position in Fairborn.

“I am honored to be selected as the next city manager of Fairborn. I’ve had the opportunity to get to know the people of Fairborn, staff, and council, and I am looking forward to becoming a visible part of this community,” stated Anderson.
