BUTLER TWP. — The Vandalia-Butler Chamber of Commerce and the Vandalia Drummer News will once again partner to present a candidate and issue forum prior to November’s general election.
The forum is set for Thursday, October 15 at 6 p.m. in the west wing of the Christian Life Center, 3489 Little York Road.
Candidates for Butler Township Trustee, Vandalia Mayor and City Council, and the Vandalia Board of Education will be invited to participate. Additionally, the City of Vandalia will present its proposed changes to the City Charter and Butler Township will discuss its issue that would implement a Limited Home Rule form of government in the Township, and the Vandalia-Butler City Schools will discuss its proposed levy renewal.
“Local elections are the ones where we as individuals have the largest impact,” said Will Roberts, President and CEO of the Vandalia-Butler Chamber of Commerce. “The forum will provide an opportunity to listen to and speak with each candidate and will give each voter the best education on the issues and candidates to be decided.”
The forum will be designed to allow attendees to question the candidates – even those running unopposed. We will also endeavor to include a representative of those who may be opposed to any of the issues on the ballot.
