VANDALIA — Dozens of area businesses descended on the Airport Exposition Center on Tuesday evening for the annual Business at the Crossroads Business-Community Expo. The Expo is sponsored by the Vandalia-Butler Chamber of Commerce.
Community members were treated to a new layout with a stage in the center instead of rows. Dan Edwards of Soft Rock 92.9 FM emceed the event.
“We went to a new layout in the hopes of being more inclusive for our businesses and guests for the entire evening,” said Chamber CEO Will Roberts.
Roberts hopes to see more change in the coming years as he advocates for a larger event combining the business community of five communities along I-70: Vandalia-Butler, Huber Heights, Englewood, Trotwood, and Brookville.
“We have reached out to our neighboring chambers because we want to enhance the experience not only for our businesses but for our communities,” he said. “Our hope at the Vandalia-Butler Chamber of Commerce is that we can build our expos into an every other year event with the combined Northern Area Chambers of Commerce. We are fortunate in that we have the facility that can handle that.”
Roberts said the purpose of the annual business expo is two-fold. The first is business to business connections, the second being consumer to business connections.
“This has been very well received by our businesses,” said Roberts. “It gives them ways to connect that they can’t during the day, it gets them outside their four walls and out in the community.”
