VANDALIA — This weekend marks the 13th annual fall food drive to benefit the Vandalia-Butler Food Pantry.
Volunteers will be distributing nearly 6,000 grocery bags to homes in the Vandalia-Butler community and hope to receive a record number of donations.
Scouts, church groups, and many other volunteers will bring the bags to homes on Saturday. Donors are asked to fill the bags and then place them on their porch or in a visible place by 9 a.m. Sunday morning for pick up. Pick up will be made rain or shine.
Volunteers will then sort the food at the Food Pantry on Sunday. Volunteers are still needed for Sunday anytime from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at St. Christopher School.
Those unable to donate this weekend may drop their donation off at Vandalia Fire Station #1 on Peters Pike or at the Vandalia Recreation Center through Oct. 17.
Please consider making a donation of food or a cash contribution to help those in need. All donations remain in Vandalia-Butler for local residents.
