VANDALIA — The 8th Annual Golf Outing for Vandalia’s VFW Post 9582 was held on Saturday, September 12 at Cliffside Golf Course hosting over 20 teams. The day consisted of food and beverages during the event and a steak dinner held at the Post on Old Springfield Road at the conclusion.
Numerous sponsors help support this event, especially Erwin Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge. Erwin sponsored ‘Hole-in-One’ opportunities to win a new car on one hole and paid vacations on several other holes. Erwin, with the help of Jeff Blackburn, have been a huge supporter of this outing every year. Several players came extremely close, unfortunately, no player was able to conquer the challenge. There is always next year.
Over 20 teams competed for a variety of prizes. The first place team members were Charles Booso, Willard Turner, Pat Kulp and Joey Lamaster. Second place went to the team of Mike Trantanella, Harold Scantland, Joe Hanson and Steve Valley. The third place team was Mark Staton, Joe Courts, David Brown and Charlie.
“The golf outing held each September is a 9-11 memorial outing to help raise funds for the Post and various programs the Post supports,” stated Post Commander Bob Hinshaw.
