DAYTON — The Montgomery County Board of Elections is encouraging citizens to let their voices be heard by recognizing National Voter Registration Day on Tuesday, September 22, 2015.
“The dedicated Board and staff here at the Montgomery County Board of Elections want to make it as easy as possible for our citizens to register to vote,” said MCBOE Director Jan M. Kelly. “Our goal is to educate the public on the process and deadlines.”
The deadline to register to vote in the November 3, 2015 election is October 5, 2015.
The Montgomery County BOE will be open on October 5 from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Registration forms are also available online at www.mcboe or www.sos.state.oh.us
Early in-person and absentee voting begins October 6 and ends Monday, Nov. 2.
According to National Voter Registration Day, 6 million Americans didn’t vote in 2008 because they missed a registration deadline or didn’t know how to register. On September 22, 2015, volunteers, celebrities, and organizations from all over the country will “hit the streets” for National Voter Registration Day. This single day of coordinated field, technology and media efforts will create pervasive awareness of voter registration opportunities.
National Voter Registration Day is a coordinated effort by multiple organizations across the county including Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance Education Fund, Bipartisan Policy Center, Bus Federation Civic Fund, Fair Elections Legal Network, League of Women Voters, National Association of Secretaries of State, Nonprofit VOTE, Rock the Vote, and Voto Latino.
