Vandalia Police Reports

VANDALIA – The following police reports were received from the Vandalia Division of Police. All subjects are innocent until found guilty in court of law.

March 9

Tommy L. Wright was arrested for OVI and given a citation for a red light violation after he ran a red light at Peters Pike and National Road and caused an accident. He was released to a relative.

Officers responded to the Walmart in Butler Township on a mutual aid call by township police. Officers assisted in taking four suspects into custody who were in a stolen car.

A complainant reported that she gave her roommate her credit card to buy household items but the roommate did not return and failed to return the card. A charge was applied to the card. The investigation continues.

After receiving calls regarding an intoxicated female wandering around and yelling, Chanessa Jadwin was found to have a felony warrant out of Montgomery County Common Pleas Court for drug possession. She was taken to the county jail.

Marsha L. McKinley was arrested on a parole violation warrant after a license plate check at the Hawthorne Suites. She was transported to the county jail.

March 10

Jeffrey L. Stiver was issued a summons for disorderly conduct/public intoxication after he was found staggering while walking on Little York Road near S. Brown School Road. He told police he was trying to walk to his home in Tipp City. The officer transported him to his home and spoke with a neighbor who agreed to keep an eye on Stiver.

A resident on Leaf Tree Lane reported that an unknown suspect attempted to gain entry into his home. The investigation continues.

After a business check on Old Springfield Court, two individuals in a suspicious vehicle were found to have warrants. Cora J. Goff was arrested on a warrant out of Montgomery County Common Pleas Court on a warrant for drug possession while Pete E. Craft was arrested on a warrant for the same charges. Both were taken to the county jail.

An employee of the Shell on W. National Road found a baggie with an unknown substance in it near a gas pump. It was put in police property.

March 11

A known male called the department and stated he wanted to hurt himself. Medics transported the man to Grandview Hospital on an emergency admission.

March 12

Sean J. MacGowan was charged with criminal mischief after an incident with his landlord.

A resident made a complaint that his credit card had been compromised and used in Las Vegas. The investigation continues.

After responding to a domestic violence call, police were unable to determine if an act of domestic violence had occurred. The incident was documented and will be presented to prosecutor’s for a determination.

A resident on Thoma Place reported that a package was stolen. The investigation continues.

Brian W. Marler was arrested on two counts of domestic violence. He was initially taken to Grandview Hospital on an emergency admission and then, when released, taken to the county jail.

March 13

Brian Reid was arrested for domestic violence after police responded to an address on Scott Ave. He was taken to the county jail.

A complainant reported that an unknown person struck his vehicle while it was parked at his place of work. The investigation continues.

March 14

Police were dispatched to Butler High School on the report by a known female student against a teacher at the school.The school is handling the incident internally.

An officer was dispatched to Vandalia Coin Laundry on the report of damage to a cash machine and the office door. The investigation continues.

March 15

A resident brought a small box of ammunition to the police department for destruction.

Sharrod M. Thornton was arrested for domestic violence after an incident on Winding Hollow Trail. He was taken to the county jail.
