VANDALIA — The Vandalia-Butler Board of Education held its annual organizational meeting for 2019 on Monday. During the meeting, Holly Herbst was elected President of the Board for the upcoming year and Rodney Washburn was elected Vice President. That is a reversal of their roles from the previous year.

The Board also set its meeting dates for 2019. Most regular meetings will be held on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 5:30 in the Board Room at the Board of Education Office. Most work sessions are scheduled for the second Monday of each month at the same time and location.

Notable exceptions to that schedule are the Tuesday, Feb. 26 meeting which will be held at 8:30 a.m. in conjunction with Youth in Government Day. The Board has also scheduled a retreat on Thursday, March 14 at 9 a.m.

Joint meetings with the City of Vandalia, Butler Township, and the Board are scheduled for Monday, April 29 and Monday, Sept. 30 at 6 p.m. at locations to be announced. Finally, the regular meeting on Tuesday, September 24 will be held at the Butler High School Lecture Hall in order to accommodate Superintendent Rob O’Leary’s annual State of the Schools presentation.

The Board also appointed Herbst and Washburn to the Financial Advisory Committee; Washburn to the Vandalia Parks and Recreation Advisory Board; Missy Pruszynski as the Legislative Liaison; Kent Zimmerman to to the OSBA Student Achievement Committee; and Russ Garman to the Visions Committee. Zimmerman was also appointed as the representative on the Miami Valley Career Technology Center Board.

Board Members Mary Kilsheimer was appointed as the delegate to the OSBA annual meeting and Zimmerman was appointed as the alternate.
