Vandalia Police Reports

VANDALIA – The following police reports were received from the Vandalia Division of Police. All subjects are innocent until found guilty in court of law.

January 1

A person complained about being assaulted at the Little York Tavern. The suspect claimed to have a gun and claimed to be retrieving another gun from his vehicle. He then fled east on Little York Road. The investigation continues.

Trenton Patterson was arrested on a warrant out of Clark County for failure to appear on the original charge of driving under suspension. He was taken to the Montgomery County Jail.

David Knowles was arrested for OVI after he was found to have driven his vehicle into a field at Helke Park. He was released to a sober friend.

A resident on Royalton Drive was the victim of a fraud regarding a fake bond on a warrant. The investigation continues.

Heather Carpenter was cited for driving under suspension and no seat belt after an officer observed her pull into the Little York Tavern parking lot with a missing right front tire. The vehicle was towed to her house.

January 2

Michael Jay was arrested on a warrant out of Miami County for failure to appear on an original charge of if criminal damaging. Custody was transferred to the Tipp City Police.

While driving through the parking lot of the Flying J, a vehicle came back as being stolen out of Troy. The occupant of the vehicle was detained, but released after speaking to the Troy Police Department. The vehicle was released to the owner.

A complainant came to the department to report a gun that was either stolen or is missing. The investigation continues.

Caleb White was cited for driving under suspension after a traffic stop on Northwoods Blvd. The plates on the car were also confiscated per BMV order.

January 3

The reporting person states she loaned her car to a friend on December 26 who was supposed to run errands and return the car to the Knights Inn. He did not return to the hotel. The car was entered into LEADS as stolen. The investigation continues.

An Ohio State Trooper was in pursuit of a vehicle near mile marker 66 and requested mutual aid. A Vandalia officer responded but the chase was ended at Grand and Salem Avenues.

A driver parked at the Flying J reported that an unknown person cut the seal on the rear door of his truck and took an undetermined amount of Crest toothpaste.

A resident on W. National Road flagged down an officer to turn in some old ammunition found in a garage. It was placed in police property to be destroyed.

January 4

After approaching an occupied vehicle on Poe Avenue, an officer was given a wallet containing different forms of ID and credit cards. The person stated it was found on Rip Rap Road near Needmore in September. It was placed into police property.

A resident on Kenbrook Drive reported that someone broke into her apartment and stole a television and a phone. She suspects her ex-boyfriend. The investigation continues.

An employee of Electra Form reported that someone hacked into his email and attempted to have direct deposit changed. The investigation continues.
