VANDALIA — The Vandalia Community Farmers Market will be open Friday afternoon from 3 – 7 p.m. Musical entertainment will be Bettina Solas. She plans a lot of Celtic, traditional folk and more modern selections on the autoharp and the mountain dulcimer.
Food trucks scheduled to be at the market include: Bella Sorella Pizza; Green-go Loco; Rib-N-It BBQ; Wheel be Roastin’ BBQ; Keiko’s Kettle Corn; TJ’s Sweet Treats and Fronana. List is subject to change.
VRC Climbing Wall Belay Clinic
VANDALIA — This clinic teaches you how to properly belay at the Vandalia Recreation Center. You will receive a belay card after successful completion of this clinic. You must pre-register for this class. Clinic is Saturday, Aug. 22 from 10 – 11 a.m. Cost is $15 for Vandalia residents or VRC members, $20 for non-residents. This clinic is held every month on the fourth Saturday through September.
Senior Center to host My Care Program for Medicare and Medicaid Participants
VANDALIA – The Ombudsman Office is giving a twenty minute presentation about the My Care program on Friday, August 25, from 1:30 to 2:00 p.m. at the Vandalia Senior Center. They will explain the programs to those who have not joined and answer questions for those who are already in the program. There will be literature about the My Care program also. Scissors, Snack, and Story
VANDALIA — This program is designed for you and your child to get to know one another and make new friends while having fun. Your child will experience gross motor movements, fine motor movements and social skills. Each class will feature a themed craft, story and activity. Drop-in for Zoom Around the Room and save $2 on Scissors, Snack and Story registration. Ages: 5 & younger (Children must be accompanied by an adult). Events at the Air Force Museum:
Giant Scale RC Model Aircraft Show
Sept. 4-6, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
Visitors will see some of history’s well-known airframes at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force over Labor Day weekend, but they won’t be the ones inside the galleries. Instead, scale versions of those aircraft will fly over the museum, regaling spectators with daring aerobatics. The Giant Scale Radio-Controlled (RC) Model Aircraft Air Show is scheduled for Sept. 4-6.
Kiser High School Alumni Picnic slated
DAYTON — The Kiser High School Alumni Association will hold its annual picnic on Saturday, Sept. 12 from 2 – 6 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, 2801 Old Troy Pike. The cost is $5 per person. Hot dogs, sausage, brats, and soda will be furnished.

ENGLEWOOD — The Northmont Class of 1975 will hold a reunion on October 8, 2015 at Boston’s Bistro from 8 p.m. to midnight with a 70’s Alumni meet and greet. VANDALIA — The Vandalia Lions Club holds dinner meetings on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month at the Cassel Hills Golf Clubhouse at 6:30 p.m. The club does not hold dinner meetings in July or August.
