VANDALIA — VFW Post 9582 donated 150 bicycle helmets to the Vandalia Police Department for distribution in the community.
“Youth are always a good investment,” commented Commander Bob Hinshaw. “They are our future. These helmets help keep them safe while they are biking.”
Lt. Dan Swafford and Crime Prevention Officer Doug Nagel from the Vandalia Division of Police accepted the donation on behalf of the department.
Nagel told the Post that there are several opportunities to disperse the helmets throughout the year.
If any youth in Vandalia are in need of a helmet, please contact Officer Nagel who can be reached at 937-415-2272.
