DAYTON — Prosecutor Mat Heck, Jr. announced Monday that 48‐year‐old Glassco Fairrow, of Vandalia, was sentenced to 8 years in prison for kidnapping and assaulting a woman who was jogging on Randler Avenue in Vandalia last year.
On the morning of August 5, 2014, the victim was out for a morning jog. The defendant, who was on parole at the time, grabbed the victim and started to strangle her. Residents in the area witnessed the incident and in addition to calling 911, some of the neighbors restrained Fairrow.
Once Vandalia Police officers arrived, they had to deploy their Taser on Fairrow in order to take him into custody.
On November 6, 2015, a jury found Fairrow guilty as charged of kidnapping, attempt to commit felonious assault, resisting arrest and multiple counts of assault.
Prosecutor Heck continued, “This defendant, who has previously been to prison a couple of times, brutally attacked this innocent victim,” Heck said. “Thankfully, due to the efforts of citizens who were willing to get involved and the quick response of the Vandalia Police Department, the defendant was taken into custody and convicted.”
