TROY – The Troy Lady Trojans showed why they are undefeated in league play on Thursday as they swept the season series over Butler 25-11, 25-14, and 25-22.
The loss dropped the Aviators to 10-9 overall and 7-6 in the Greater Western Ohio Conference North. Troy improved to 13-0 in league play and 16-4 overall.
Sarah Droesch led the team in kill percentage at .500 and had four kills. MacKenzie Duncan had high kills with five.
Grace Swarts led with 18 assists, Willow Knight at 12 digs, while Grace Cope had high aces (3) and blocks (4). Swarts also had three blocks.
“Troy is a really good team,” said head coach Caitlin Shumaker. “I’m glad we competed better this time around, especially set 3, in comparison to the first time we faced them earlier in the season. We’re ready to get back in the gym and begin preparing to face Sidney next week.”
Aviators beat Wave in 3
On Tuesday the Aviators traveled to Greenville and won in three sets 25-15, 27-25, 25-11.
“This was another good win in three sets for us tonight,” siad Shumaker. “We took a little too long to start competing in the second set, but in sets one and three we played clean, sharp, smart volleyball. Our middles both played well at the net tonight with Grace Cope hitting .385 and Sarah Droesch hitting .538 and a combined 6 blocks for them.”
Butler will close out the regular season this week with road trips to Sidney and Trotwood before ending at home on Saturday hosting Miamisburg.
Butler will host Stebbins in the first round of the Division I sectional on Wednesday, Oct. 18 at 6 p.m.
