VANDALIA — The Butler volleyball is finding its stride after its second straight win on Monday evening in straight sets 25-17, 25-15, and 25-11 over Greenville.

Butler dominated the match from the beginning in improving to 5-2 under new coach Caitlin Shumaker after an 0-5 start. The Aviators are now 5-7 overall and 3-5 in league play.

Mackenzie Duncan and Sarah Droesch shared high kill percentage honors at .333. Grace Cope led the Aviators in kills (13), serving aces (3) and blocks (5). Grace Swarts had 26 assists and four blocks, Victoria Theobald had eight digs, and Nakita Brown added a pair of aces.

“Our goal tonight was to set the pace and set the power for this match, and we were successful in achieving that goal. It’s nice to get a win in three sets going into this busy week full of matches. We’re hoping to keep this momentum rolling tomorrow as we play at West Carrollton.

KETTERING — After a narrow loss to Tippecanoe on Thursday, the Butler volleyball team traveled to Kettering on Saturday and swept the Lady Firebirds in three sets 25-14, 25-19, and 25-20.

That capped off wins by the JV and freshman teams to make it a clean sweep over the Firebirds.

“It’s nice to walk away from today’s match with a win in just three sets for varsity and also wins by both our JV and Freshman teams,” said head coach Caitlin Shumaker. “We had some nice stretches where we were able to keep possession and momentum to score long streaks of points.”

Grace Swarts and Alyssa Burley led the team in high kill percentage with Swarts adding 23 assists to lead the Aviators. Grace Cope had 13 kills and three serving aces. Karli Kercher also had three aces while Victoria Theobald led Butler with 12 digs.
