VANDALIA — The Butler Lady Aviators swept the Fairborn Skyhawks on Thursday to earn their second win of the season.

Butler won the match in three sets 25-18, 25-20, and 25-15.

“Due to illness and injury, we played this match with a different line-up, but I was proud of how younger players stepped up to take advantage of an opportunity,” said head coach Caitlin Shumaker.

Mackenzie Duncan had 16 kills and a .484 hitting average, Grace Swarts led with 32 assists, and Karli Kercher had five aces.

“We continue to show improvement and put things in place that we are working on in practice,” said Shumaker. “We are looking forward to having three practices and time to get healthy this weekend. Next week will be a good test for us with two home conference matches.”

The Aviators were scheduled to host Stebbins on Tuesday followed by Tippecanoe on Wednesday. Both matches finished too late for this edition. Butler will travel to Fairmont on Saturday for a noon start and then return home on Monday to host conference foe Greenville at 7 p.m.
