MIAMISBURG — The Butler boys soccer team traveled to Miamisburg on Saturday and came away with a tense 1-0 victory.
The Aviators’ lone goal came from Matt Crawford off an assist from Zane Burgmeier.
The win lifted Butler to a 7-1-1 overall record and they remained 5-0 in conference play and was the Aviators’ sixth consecutive victory. The wins bumped Butler up two spots to sixth in the Miami Valley Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association poll.
“Six wins in a row has the boys playing confidently,” said head coach Steve Doring. “We know we have several tough GWOC North matches on the horizon.”
On Thursday, the Aviators traveled to Xenia and came away with a 5-1 win over the Buccaneers.
Crawford had a pair of goals, one off an assist from Chris Mitruosis. Ryan Davis also had two goals and Francisco Jiminez also scored.
The Aviators will not return to action until Tuesday, September 19 when they host Greenville at 5:30 p.m. On Thursday, Sept. 21 Butler will travel to Northmont for a 7 p.m. contest.
“The goal now is to stay healthy, train hard, and continue to understand our system of play,” said Doring. “We have a long layoff until our next match against Greenville the team will be hungry and eager to get to the matches on the backend of our schedule.”
