Aviators compete at Bob Schul Invitational

WEST MILTON — The Butler boys and girls cross country teams traveled to West Milton on Saturday to compete at the Bob Schul Invitational.

Butler’s boys placed third in a twenty team field.

Long Lin placed fourth (16:17), Kyle Wertz 10th (16:47), Gabe Warren 15th (16:55), Adam Gunckel 34 (17:51), Matt Mescher 39th (17:57), Caleb Vieth 48th (18:07), Brice Hellman (20:06), and Khalil Ruiz (20:09).

“We ran really well today,” said head coach Andy White. “Our goal was three (runners) under 17 and three under 18 which we accomplished. Last week, in the season opener, we did not run close to our potential, today we did. It shows we are a good team when we race to our abilities.”

The Lady Aviators showed improvement with a 10th place finish. Freshman Evelyn Towe paced the Aviators at 23rd place (21:06), Abby Schoenherr 61st (22:24), Elizabeth Kilgore 65th (22:31), Sarah Hickle 78th (22:56), Gracie Armitage 140th (25:13), Michell Valdivia 158th (25:53), and Chloe Kitta 240th (29:47).

“The girls showed improvement from last week which was the goal,” said White. “The conditions were great and the course was fast and the team took advantage of that.”
