VANDALIA — The following activites are scheduled at the Vandalia Recreation Center:

NFL Flag Football

Games will be played on Sunday afternoons beginning in mid- September. Practices will be optional for the league. Participants will get a call from a coach before the season begins. Included in the registration fee is a reversible NFL youth flag football jersey and flags. Grades K-8. The cost is $40 for Resident/VRC Member and $50 for Non-Resident. Registration going on now!

Soccer Referee Information

Looking to earn some money for the summer/fall? Soccer referee may be the job for you! All classes are MANDATORY and will be held at the Vandalia Senior Center. No fee is required to obtain certification. A referee shirt, shorts and socks are provided. If you would like further information, please contact Dave Posma at 657-3838. MUST be 14 years old by August 20, 2017.

MPower Fun & Fit 5K Challenge

Ready to take on the challenge on Saturday, July 29 at 9:00a.m. You will begin at the Vandalia Sports Complex Training Grounds for a 5K that includes a variety of fitness challenges. Some of the challenges will be Tire flips, TRX, Hill Sprint, Med Ball slams, Layup challenge, box jumps, agility course, sled pushes, and more. This is not your typical 5K. Come out for a fun challenge. A T-Shirt is included for those who preregister by 07/22. For ages 15 years and older. The cost is $15 for all participants.

Free Wall Night

Climbing one of the fourteen routes on the VRC’s Climbing Wall is an activity the entire family can enjoy! Don’t forget to wear closed toe shoes. Ages 6 and older. Tuesday, August 15 from 5-7 p.m.

Soggy Doggy Dip

It’s Doggy Time at Cassel Hills Pool! That’s right…we have reserved some time for the dog in your family to come take a dip in the pool on Monday, September 4 from 6:00-7:30 p.m. Dogs of all ages are welcome. The fee is $5 per dog. Please read the rules below.

  • Maximum of 2 dogs per owner.
  • All dogs must display a valid license.
  • All dogs must have proof of current rabies vaccinations.
  • Dogs must be on a 6’ leash when not in the water.
  • An adult must accompany their dogs at all times.
  • Owners will be responsible for cleaning up after their dogs.
  • Unruly, worrisome to others, or aggressive dogs will not be permitted.
  • VPRD reserves the right to deny admission for any reason.
  • The pool will be available for your four legged friends only.

Waste must be disposed of completely and immediately.
