Kyla Bedel won the javelin throw and the shot put at the USA Track & Field Junior Olympics Ohio Championships at Cedarville University last weekend.


CEDARVILLE — Kyla Bedel, who will be a fifth grader at St. Christopher School this fall, competed at the USA Track & Field Junior Olympics Ohio Championships at Cedarville University this past week where she won the gold medal in the shot put and javelin competition.

She also won a bronze medal in the high jump.

Bedel set a personal best throw in the javelin at 58 feet, 8.25 inches. In the shot put, she won at 16-11.25, and high jump was at a height of 3-5.

Bedel is a member of the Northwest Track Club, the second oldest track club still competing in Ohio.

Bedel has also qualified for the USA Track and Field National Youth Outdoor Championships which will be held at Benedictine University in Lisle, IL. She will compete in the javelin throw and shot put.
