VANDALIA — For most people, football season starts in august. This is not the case for the Butler Aviators.
The Aviator football team has been preparing for the upcoming season since January 4, 2017. For the past five months, the aviators have been lifting, honing skills, and working hard towards the common goal.
“The goal is always the same,” said Coach Hyatt. “We are always pushing to be the best football team we possibly can. We work everyday to evolve and push even further as a unit.”
The construction of the David and Cheryl Kudla Center for Strength and Fitness has been an important factor in the daily efforts of the team.
“Due to the weight room renovations our workouts have been more efficient,” Hyatt said. “It has really encouraged the high-energy atmosphere we strive for.”
Seniors Caiden Serrer and Logan Flatt say that the returning players are driven by their shortcomings in the previous season.
“We are trying to build on the successes and failures of last season,” said Flatt.
Last season the Aviators were 5-5 on the season.
“The goal is really to get better everyday, but we would like to be more than 5-5 this year,” said Serrer.
The Aviators are in action nearly every Wednesday for 7-on-7 scrimmages. The Aviators will open the season with a home non-conference game on August 25 versus Massillon Perry.
