Lin qualifies for state

TROY — Butler’s Long Lin has qualified to the Ohio High School Athletic Association’s State Cross Country meet on Saturday by virtue of his 11th place overall finish at the Troy Regional meet last Saturday.

Lin ran in a time of 16:30.

“Long has worked extremely hard all season,” said Butler head coach Andy White. “He set a goal of qualifying for state meet and he accomplished his goal. Hopefully conditions will allow him to run a fast PR. He’s ready to run fast.”

Butler placed 14th overall as a team.

Other Butler runners competing were Kyle Wertz (17:14.96), Gabe Warren (18:04.92), Sean Luttrell (19:24.55) and Matt Mescher (20:42.68).

Lin will compete at the State meet which is Saturday, Nov. 5 at National Trail Raceway in Hebron. The Division I boys race is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
