CENTERVILLE — The Butler Aviators golf team came into the season with high expectations – and have lived up to them.

On Monday, the Aviators won the Sectional Tournament at the Golf Club at Yankee Trace in Centerville by two strokes over the hosting Elks. Butler shot a 298 with the Elks in second with 300 followed by Springboro with a 304.

Austin Greaser led the Aviators with a 71 followed by Zach Crawford (74), A.J. Lawrence (76), Jack Herbst (77), and Ethan Dill (84.)

“They are all peaking at just the right time,” said Butler coach Scott Hadder.

Indeed, the sectional win follows a week which saw Butler win their own Invitational by six strokes over Fairmont and tie Centerville for the Greater Western Ohio Conference Post-Season Tournament win with a 296.

The Aviators won the GWOC North crown and placed two golfers – Crawford and Greaser – on the All-GWOC team.

Butler placed four golfers on the American North Division All-League First Team. Crawford and Greaser were joined by A.J. Lawrence and Jack Herbst.

The Aviators will compete in the Southwest District Tournament on Thursday, Oct. 13 at Beavercreek Golf Club.
