41Hope 5K registration open

VANDALIA — Regsistration is now open for the 41Hope 5K Memorial Run/Walk to be held Saturday, Sept. 24 at Butler High School’s Memorial Stadium.

The 41 HOPE 5K raises money for the Blake LaForce #41 Memorial Fund, a VISIONS Endowment Fund, of the Vandalia and Dayton Foundations. The #41 Fund provides two annual college scholarships, one for a boy and one for a girl student athlete, as well for enhancing the student athlete’s experience, at Vandalia-Butler High School. The Butler Kickline captained this Memorial 5K, honoring Blake #41, to Compete, Persevere and Win.

Date change for Drive One 4UR School

VANDALIA — The Butler Athletic Boosters held the Drive One 4UR School event on Saturday, Sept. 17 and will NOT hold a similar event on Oct. 1 as previously announced. The change is due to a scheduling change by Ford.

Powder Puff game set for Oct. 6

VANDALIA — The annual Powder Puff game is set for Thursday, Oct. 6 immediately following the Homecoming Parade. The game is a fun evening intended to continue the school spirit that has been building all week. The community is invited to attend. It is also a way to give back to the community by collecting canned food items for the Vandalia Food Pantry. All participants and visitors are asked to bring a minimum of two canned food items as their admission into the game.

Soccer Referee Information

VANDALIA — Looking to earn some money for the summer and fall? Soccer referee may be the job for you! All classes are mandatory and will be held at the Vandalia Senior Center. No fee is required to obtain certification. A referee shirt, shorts and socks are provided. If you would like further information please contact Dave Posma at 657-3838. Must be 14 years old by August 20.

Seniors Pickleball

VANDALIA — Come join the fun and get a good cardio work out while playing indoors on our new Pickleball courts! For participants age 55 and older. The cost is FREE for members and $3 for drop in. This program will run on Monday and Wednesdays from 11:30a-1:30p.

Dayton Diamonds to host football tryouts

DAYTON — The Dayton Diamonds women’s football team will once again be holding tryout, for the 2017 season, this Saturday and every Saturday through October. They will be held from Noon to 3 p.m. at Triangle Park,located at the corner of Riverside Drive and Ridge Avenue in Dayton. There is no fee to tryout.

The Diamonds are members of the Women’s Football Alliance and will be playing games starting in April and running through June. Travel is required. This is full contact football with NFL rules. For more information contact the Dayton Diamonds at 937-259-8971 or by e-mail at
