Fair Valley wins GDSA Championship

The Fair Valley Fins recently won the Greater Dayton Swimming Association championship on July 23.

BEAVERCREEK — The Fair Valley Fins went to the Greater Dayton Swimming Association championship meet on July 23 and came out the champions in the league. They scored 410 points. Woodhaven came in a very close second with 409 points.

In the 6 and under age group, Alayna Clark was 5th in the 42 foot freestyle. Austin Kuhns was 5th in the 25 meter freestyle and 6th in the backstroke.

In the 7-8 age group, the girls medley relay of Zoe Wilkson, Gabi Holop, Reese Thomas, and Reagan Downey came in 4th. The boys medley relay of Paxton Dwenger, Rylan Dadey, AJ Tipple, and Isaac Dadey came in 1st. In the breaststroke, R. Dadey was 4th. Thomas finished 4th in the butterfly and 3rd in the freestyle. AJ Tipple was 2nd in the freestyle. In the backstroke, Z. Wilkson was 6th, while I. Dadey finished 3rd. The girls free relay of Z. Wilkson, R. Downey, Holop, and Thomas finished 6th.

In the 9-10 age group, the girls medley relay of Ava Rotramel, Allison Tipple, Giovanni Ferguson, and Kiersten McBride finished in 4th place. The boys medley relay of Jake Wilkson, Mason Crews, Drake Rinesmith, and Nolan Baker came in 2nd. Rinesmith was 4th in the 100 IM and 6th in the butterfly. Ferguson was 3rd in the butterfly. N. Baker finished 3rd in the freestyle. In the backstroke, Rotramel finished 4th for the girls, while J. Wilkson was 1st and Colin Marlow 6th in the boys race. Both the girls and boys free relays finished in 4th place. The girls relay consisted of Rotramel, Olivia Helrigle, McBride, and Ferguson. The boys relay consisted of J. Wilkson, Marlow, N. Baker, and Rinesmith.

In the 11-12 age group, the girls medley relay of Stella Haws, Alex Voisard, Gracie Kincer, and Lauren Crews finished 2nd. The boys medley relay came in 1st, setting a new GDSA record of 1:08.61. The four boys who set this record are Mason Wilkson, Brock Nixon, Logan Downey, and Evan Lozan. L. Crews was 1st in the 100 IM. M. Wilkson came in 2nd in the 100 IM. Voisard finished 4th in the 100 IM. In the breaststroke, Sofia Valdespino finished 5th for the girls, while L. Downey was 4th for the boys.

Matt LaBianco was 5th in the breaststroke and the freestyle. In the butterfly, Alex Voisard finished 4th and Gracie Kincer finished 5th. Brock Nixon was 1st for the boys in the butterfly and the freestyle. In the girls freestyle, Fair Valley had a 1-2 finish with L. Crews 1st and Valdespino 2nd. In backstroke, Kincer was 4th and Stella Haws was 5th. For the boys, M. Wilkson finished 1st while Evan Lozan was 3rd. Both of the free relays in this age group finished in 1st place. The girls relay consisted of Kincer, Valdespino, Voisard, and L. Crews. The boys relay was Nixon, LaBianco, Lozan, and M. Wilkson.

In the 13-14 age group, the girls medley relay of Chloe Stanforth, Sophie Haws, Katie Skrovan, and Morgan Downey finished 4th while the boys medley relay of Joel Kellar, Garret Pearce, Matt Brunsky, and Riley Brady finished 3rd. Skrovan was 6th in the 100 IM and 4th in the butterfly. R. Brady was 6th in the 100 IM and 3rd in the backstroke. Sophie Haws finished 3rd in the breaststroke. Brunsky was 1st in the butterfly and 3rd in the freestyle. The girls free relay of M. Downey, Brooke Baker, Ashley Brady, and Skrovan was 4th. The boys free relay of R. Brady, Pearce, Kellar, and Brunsky came in 3rd.

In the 15-18 age group, the girls medley relay of Elaine Dean, Grace Cope, Molly Hetzer, and Abbey Burton was 2nd while the boys relay of Jacob Staley, Sean Luttrell, Daveed Abrams, and Sam Lavielle was 1st. Hetzer finished 4th in the 100 IM and 3rd in the butterfly. Josh Crews finished 1st in the 100 IM and butterfly. Abrams finished 3rd in the 100 IM and 5th in the butterfly. Cope came in 3rd in the breaststroke.

Remy Stanforth finished 5th in the breaststroke. Luttrell was 1st in the breaststroke and Jake Bowers finished in 3rd. Burton was 4th in the butterfly and 3rd in the freestyle. Dean finished 2nd in the freestyle and 1st in the backstroke. The boys had a 1-2 finish in the freestyle with Lavielle in 1st and J. Crews in 2nd. Reilly Harrington finished 3rd in the backstroke. Lavielle also was 2nd in the backstroke. Staley finished in 4th in the backstroke. In the last events of the meet, the girls and boys free relays both came in 1st place. The girls relay consisted of Burton, Harrington, Hetzer, and Dean. The boys relay was J. Crews, Luttrell, Bowers, and Lavielle.

Congratulations to all the swimmers at Fair Valley for a great season and bringing home the championship! The Far Valley Fins were coached by Head Coach Jolene Short, and Assistant Coaches Reilly Harrington, Sam Lavielle, and Kyle Woodruff.
