Centerville drops Butler 4-3
CENTERVILLE – The Aviators dropped a tough one on the road Thursday evening, falling to Centerville 4-3.
The Elks handed Butler (20-2, 10-0) it’s second loss of the season, and saddled pitcher Mitch Gremling (6-1) with his first defeat of the year. Gremling went the distance for Butler, allowing just one earned run on five hits, while striking out two.
The Aviators jumped out to the early 2-0 lead, but fell victim to a few uncharacteristic errors, that allowed the Elks to keep things close.
Meanwhile at the plate, after scoring three runs, the Butler bats fell silent as Centerville pitchers Quincy Hamilton and Brian Schutter held the Aviators to just two hits through the final five innings of play.
The road does not get any easier for Butler, as the Aviators look to bounce back under the Friday night lights at Moeller.
