Aviator tennis heads into divisional play

VANDALIA — Through their opening six matches, the Butler men’s tennis team is off to a solid start. The Aviators are 3-3 through their first six contests, as they head into conference play.

The Aviators are led by two seniors, Morgan Jackson and Denish Patel. Both Denish and Morgan have had successful starts to this season. Denish is 4-0 in second singles on the year. Morgan is also having success, adding two wins in 2016.

Butler also has many underclassmen making big contributions. Troy Luken is 4-0 for the Aviators in third singles.

In addition, the Aviators are also having success in doubles. Jones Kanak,Levi Schidecker,Ross Fike and Francis Bautist have all seen action this season, but haven’t cracked a win yet. So far, the Aviators have defeated Miamisburg, Xenia and Northmont.

Butler was edged out by GWOC crossover opponents Centerville and Lebanon, as well as Springfield Shawnee. The Aviators will be back in action on Tuesday at Sidney. This contest will be the first GWOC North divisional match of the year. Results of that match were not available at press time.

Butler will also play on Wednesday at Springboro and Thursday versus Greenville.
