TIPP CITY — With two Aviators topping the podium and many more placing, the girls’ track and field team had an excellent showing at the Tipp Invitational, placing second overall. The Butler boys’ team
Senior Natalie Thompson won the 100 Hurdles in a time of 17.49. Teammate Brooklyn Warren, a junior, placed third in the event with a time of 17.64. The duo also placed fifth and sixth in the 300 Hurdles.
Senior Lora Burris won the Pole Vault, clearing 8 feet, 00 inches.Another Aviator, Alyssa Burley placed fifth in the event, clearing 7-00..
The girls’ relay teams were also successful on the day. In the 3200 Relay, the team of Kreill, Mitchell, Schoenherrr and Schoenherr placed fourth with a time of 10:38.01. In the 800 Relay, it was Anene, Baker, Fourman and Minier placing fifth with a time of 1:56.39. It was Baker, Minier, Fourman and Kapis who placed fourth in the 400 Relay with a time of 54.57. In the 1600 Relay, Anene, Kreill, Mitchell, Schoenherr combined for a time of 4:28.76 and a second place finish.
Isabella Anene placed sixth in the 400 Dash, Abbie Schoenherr placed fifth in the 800 Run, Bri Fourman placed sixth in the 200 Dash and Sarah Hickle placed fourth in the 3200 Run.
The Aviators were also successful in the field events. Tyree Fletcher had a great day, placing second in the High Jump with a jump of 4.06 feet and eighth in the Long Jump with a jump of 13-11.25 feet. Kailey Bollender took seventh in the High Jump, clearing 4-03 feet. Sophomore Clara Fiori placed third in the discuss, throwing 94 feet.
Aviator boys place third
Butler boys’ track and field placed third against some tough competition at the Tipp City Invitational Saturday.
Once again, the distance runners did very well for the Aviators. In the 3200 run, freshman Gabe Warren placed third in a time of 10:37.24 and Caleb Colon was fifth with 10:48.59. In the 1600 run, Long-Fa Lin placed seventh turning in a time of 4:52.04. Lin also placed eighth in the 800 Run in 2:13.40.
The Aviators placed well in relays. The 800 Relay team (Roberts, McCracken, Sharp, Whisman) finished third in a time of 1:36.93. It was an eighth place finish in the 400 relay (Roberts, McCracken, Graus, Wortham) in 48.16 and a sixth place finish in the 1600 Relay (McCracken, Green, Lin, Whisman) in 3:57.52.
Other Aviators making it to the podium were: Dalton Sharp fourth 300 Hurdles and fourth Long Jump, Austin Whisman fourth 200 Dash and Daniel O’Leary third Discus Throw.
