TROY — A solid starts for the boys’ track and field team with a third place finish at the Up and Running Invitational in Troy Saturday, March 26.
Austin Whisman picked up a win in the 400 dash for the boys. The senior’s winning time was 53.59. Whisman also placed seventh in the 100 dash in 12.13 and sixth in the 200 dash, running 24.31.
Sophomore Dalton Sharp also secured a win for the Aviators, taking the boys’ long jump title with a jump of 20.04 feet. Sharp also picked up points for the boys’ team, finishing seventh in the 200 dash (24.80) and second in the high jump (5.08 ft.).
The Aviators’ distance runners made a big statement in the 3200 run, with four runners placing in the points. Long-Fa Lin was second (10:14.78), Kyle Wertz was third (10:19.76), Caleb Colon was seventh (10:44.14) and Gabe Warren was eighth (10:45.05).
Other boys’ scoring points for Butler were: Hunter McCracken 300 Hurdles, seventh place (47.31), Bradley Lee High Jump, tied for eighth place (5 feet), Daniel O’Leary Discuss Throw, sixth place (119 feet).
