BEAVERCREEK – The Butler girls’ bowling team finished ninth out of 24 of the top teams in the Ohio High School Southwest District Bowling tournament on Wednesday, February 24 at Beaver-Vu Bowl in Beavercreek.

The ninth place finish was the Butler girls’ bowling program’s highest ever finish at Districts.

The girls were led by Savannah Hoke with a 588 (216-173-199) series good for 20th overall. She was closely followed by Jessica Sacks with a 582 (150-216-216), good for 25th overall. Julia Helke added a 526 (174-197-155) series, Becca Helke rolled games of 215 and 167, while Lauren Davis shot games of 189 and 183. The girls missed making the State tournament by 154 pins in what is arguably the toughest District tournament in Ohio.

“Coach McStay and I are very proud of the girls’ performance this season,” said Butler Coach Steve Sacks. “We are pleased with a ninth place finish at Districts and finishing in second place in the GWOC North behind state tournament qualifier Troy.”

The Lady Aviators lose two seniors, Co-Captains Julia Helke and Savannah Hoke, but all the rest of the current squad are sophomores, including Davis, Becca Helke and Sacks, along with Alex Kapis, Jordan Steinke and Megan Zins.
