VANDALIA — Shelby Moses and Brittney Petrosky have been named to the Greater Western Ohio Conference North Division First Team on Thursday.
Abby Grooms was named to the Second Team.
Moses, a senior guard, was named to the team for the second straight year. She made her way into the Butler record books this season by making 46 three-point baskets – one better than the previous record of 45. That record, set by current head coach Molly Bardonaro, had stood since the 1996-1997 season.
“Her scoring average, outside shooting abilities, and ball handling, along with being a key threat to all teams which caused the best defenders to guard her, is what got Shelby first team honors again,” said Bardonaro.
Moses averaged 11.7 points per game to lead the Aviators in scoring.
Petrosky, a junior, was named to the first team for the first time in the sport of basketball. She averaged 9.5 points, five rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.8 steals per game.
“Her speed, aggressiveness, defensive ability, and her ability to drive and get to the foul line where she shot 85% for the season is what earned her first team honors,” Bardonaro said.
Grooms was named to the second team for the second consecutive season. Grooms averaged 8.1 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. She ranked second in the league in rebounds.
“Her rebounding, and protection of the rim are what earned her honors on second team,” said Bardonaro.
Butler finished the year with a 14-9 overall record and 6-4 in the GWOC North.
