COLUMBUS — Members of Butler’s track team competed at French Field House Saturday, Jan. 16 against other high school athletes from across Ohio.

Senior Natalie Thompson says indoor meets help prepare for the spring track and field season.

“During the winter, it’s tough to spend a lot of quality time outside on the track, so we focus more on strength and conditioning,” Thompson said. “Then at meets, we can work on the technical details on the indoor track. It really helps us stay tuned up and ready to go in the spring.”

On Saturday, Thompson and Brooklyn Warren both qualified for the 60 meter hurdle finals with times of 9.83 and 10.76 seconds, respectively, finiahinf 8th and 15th. The girls teamed with Corina Kreill and Isabella Anene to finish 11th in the 4×200 meter relay with a time of 1:56.81. Kreill and Anene placed 3rd and 5th in the triple jump competition with respective marks of 31′ 6.5″ and 30′ 1″. Kreill and Grace Swarts tied for 10th in the high jump, both clearing 4′ 8″.

Elsewhere, senior Lora Burris competed in a pole vault meet at Miami East High School. Burris placed 1st in the event, matching her personal best mark of 9 feet.
