VANDALIA — The Butler Aviator football team has been named an Academic All Ohio team for 2015 by the Ohio High School Football Coaches Association. Four individuals were also named to the Academic All Ohio team as well.
They are seniors Noah Ballard, Chandler Craine, Vincent Fiori, and Dustin Lewis. Only 101 players from around the state were selected for the team.
“The award the players received from the Ohio High School Football Coaches Association is one that I take great pride in,” said coach Greg Bush. “Additionally, I am sure the parents of these gentlemen are also very proud of this accomplishment.”
Each team submits its top 22 grade point averages for consideration. Those numbers are averaged together and the top 50 are awarded as a team. Butler’s team grade point average was 3.6. The cut off for the team award was a 3.25.
“Butler athletes have always excelled on the field and in the classroom, but this award is obviously a cut above that,” said Bush. “To maintain a 3.6 and be named all-conference is quite an accomplishment!”
“This honor is a clear indication that our student athletes are students FIRST, but also is a clear measure that extra-curricular activities are part of the total educational experience,” said Vandalia-Butler City Schools Superintendent Bradley Neavin. “These student athletes and coaches are excellent examples of the dedication and work ethic of both students and staff in the Vandalia-Butler school district.”
