DAYTON — Marking the end of the 2015 fall soccer season, Kittyhawk SAY (Soccer Association for Youth) wrapped up its fall tournament schedule on Oct. 18.
Proud teammates of the Honeybees, Vandalia Helke and Smith Schools students, Olivia and Mary Williams were pleased to bring home their first soccer first place trophy.
The Honeybees will now serve as the representative team of their division of the Kittyhawk SAY (Soccer Association for Youth) and have been invited to participate in the OAST (Ohio State Area SAY Championship Tournament) to be held in November.
“This team has pulled together under the remarkable leadership of Coach Phil and it has been a true blessing to see all the girls skillsets advance so quickly,” said Jack Williams Jr., father of Olivia and Mary. “They have seen the seeds of his many team practices sewn into results.”
Last month the team took a second place finish in the 2015 Dayton World Soccer Games tournament, held Sept. 12.
“It was particularly challenging and rewarding for the girls to play against two boys teams including the Vandalia United select soccer team,” said Williams.
