VANDALIA — While the fall volleyball season is wrapping up, senior Riley Clark won’t have more free time. She’ll be heading to the basketball court and then the softball diamond.

This three-sport senior says her teammates would describe her as “energetic, cheery and a hard worker.” Volleyball coach Cheryl Franklin agrees. Franklin describes Clark as “determined, committed, respected by her teammates and coachable.”

“She is one of the team captains. She was chosen because of her intensity, her drive. She is a hard worker, always giving everything in practice and games. She pushes her teammates to do the same,” Franklin said.

Clark also pushes herself, balancing activities, sports and school work. Next year, she plans to go to college to become a speech pathologist.

Franklin says she has enjoyed watching her defensive specialist go from player to role model.

“I love the passion she has for any sport she is playing. There isn’t any sport that she plays that you don’t see her giving it her all. She is also that way in the classroom. Riley is a great example of what a student athlete should be,” Franklin said.
