Trot for Brats 5K is Saturday

Openings still available for walkers, runners

VANDALIA — The Vandalia-Butler Optimist Club will host its annual Trot for the Brats 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, September 12 in coordination with the Vandalia Sister Cities Oktboberfest. Participants will receive free admission to the Oktoberfest as well as a coupon for a free bratwurst. Registration info can be found at http://www.trotforthebrats5k.org.

The 5K Run/Walk is sponsored by the Vandalia-Butler Optimist Club and the proceeds from this event will directly benefit the youth of the Vandalia City & Butler Township community. For 40 years, the Vandalia-Butler Optimist Club has focused their time, money, energy and resources into the kids of our community and proudly embrace our slogan, “Friend of Youth.”

Our professionally certified 5K (3.1 mile) course is very flat and should offer most avid runners a great opportunity to push for their best 5K time. Professional electronic chip timing for all participants as well as mile splits will be provided during the event. Walkers (and dogs!) and families are welcome! This is a race and a family event all in one package.
