VANDALIA — The Butler boys soccer team jumped out to a 3-0 lead over one of the area’s top teams and never looked back in a 3-1 win over Centerville on Tuesday night at Butler Memorial Stadium. The Aviators improved to 2-0 on the season.

“This was an outstanding team performance capped off by seniors Zach Burgmeier, Andrew Eifert, Brandon Critz, Ed Lauterbach, and Ian Grove,” said Butler soccer coach Steve Doring. “This is our second consecutive year defeating Centerville by a 3-1 score.”

The Aviators got a goal by Terrance Engle that was assisted by Burgmeier, a goal by Nathan Weber on an assist by Jack Spoltman and Tyler Sutter, and a goal by Matt Parker.

On Saturday, the boys fell 1-0 to Tipp to drop their season record to 2-1 overall.

The Aviators were to play at Springfield on Tuesday in a game that ended too late for this edition. On Thursday, the boys will travel to Miamisburg before hosting Tecumseh on Saturday, Sept. 5 at 3 p.m.
