VANDALIA — In her third year on varsity, Butler High School junior Brittney Petrosky is scoring goals and getting noticed. The outside attacking midfielder had six goals in the team’s first two games.
As a sophomore, Petrosky was All State, team All GWOC North and 1st team All Conference. Those awards followed a season that saw her score 23 goals and have 4 assists.
Varsity Soccer Coach John Gray says it’s Petrosky’s “ball skills and smooth play,” along with her all-out effort that puts her in scoring position so often.
Out of the game, Gray says Petrosky brings leadership and a “friendly disposition” to the team.
“Brittney is a credit to Butler High School not only for her sports’ ability, but her school work and all-around friendliness to everyone she comes in contact with,” Gray said.
Petrosky says she hopes to be a “good leader and push the team” to do its best. She says her team’s strengths include “speed and aggressiveness” and it’s her teammates who have made all the scoring possible.
“It was like the whole team helped me with the goals,” Petrosky said.
Petrosky hopes to continue playing soccer in college. She began playing the sport at age 3.
