Aviators defeat Centerville, stay unbeaten

VANDALIA — The Butler boys soccer team jumped out to a 3-0 lead over one of the area’s top teams and never looked back in a 3-1 win over Centerville on Tuesday night at Butler Memorial Stadium. The Aviators improved to 2-0 on the season.

“This was an outstanding team performance capped off by seniors Zach Burgmeier, Andrew Eifert, Brandon Critz, Ed Lauterbach, and Ian Grove,” said Butler soccer coach Steve Doring. “This is our second consecutive year defeating Centerville by a 3-1 score.”

The Aviators got a goal by Terrance Engle that was assisted by Burgmeier, a goal by Nathan Weber on an assist by Jack Spoltman and Tyler Sutter, and a goal by Matt Parker.

Butler will return to action Saturday when they host Tipp at Memorial Stadium. JV will start at 5 p.m. with varsity slated for 7 p.m.
